Sesame Seed Flour
Sesame Seed (Sesamum indicum L.) is one of the oldest oilseed crops known, domesticated well over 3000 years ago, it is nowadays a worldwide crop but originated in certain regions of Africa. Sesame has one of the highest oil contents of any seed. With a rich nutty flavor, it is a common ingredient in cuisines across the world.
Sesame seed flour is rich in fiber and protein which helps to growth and repair human tissues and organs, it also regulates cell activities. Sesame flour contains very high antioxidant properties because of the presence of natural sesame antioxidants –sesamol and sesamolina.
Sesame flour is a very rich source of protein. It can be used as a protein base or as an ingredient to replace other flours and use it in applications such as pasta, bakery products, pizza dough, cereals, cookies and others can be obtained.
